We’re all looking for ways to spend more time outdoors this year, and Florida is full of incredible locations which anyone will enjoy exploring. Today we’ve compiled our list of the top ten outdoor day trips in Florida that you’ll want to go on in the upcoming months.

St. Augustine, FL

St. Augustine

St. Augustine is the oldest town in the US, and you’ll love exploring this unique location. Walk to the nearby St. Augustine beach to spend a day relaxing outdoors. When the sun goes down, consider heading out on a sunset cruise to enjoy this beautiful location from the water.

Crystal River

The Manatees of Crystal River

For locals and visitors to Florida, this is hands down one of the best trips you could take in the state. Try to book a boat trip first thing in the morning to have the best chance of seeing the manatees in their natural habitat. These incredible creatures are so peaceful to watch, and you’ll love snorkeling up above them in the crystal clear waters here.

New Smyrna Beach, FL

New Smyrna Beach

Located south of Daytona Beach, New Smyrna Beach is the perfect spot for a day trip. It’s known for its great surf beaches, and you’ll find it to be an excellent location to try this fun sport for the first time. We also recommend heading to Smyrna Dunes Park, where you can enjoy the views of Ponce Inlet and the lighthouse.

St. Petersburg, FL

St. Pete

There’s so much to do in St. Pete that you could easily spend a whole weekend here. Enjoy spending time sunbathing on the beach or head out on a boat trip from the city. If you enjoy fishing or golfing, this is one of the top locations in Florida for both of these activities.

Mount Dora, FL

Mount Dora

Mount Dora is located just one hour’s drive from Orlando and is the ideal spot for anyone needing to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. You’ll be taken back to the days of Old Florida country living, where you can enjoy strolling around the lakes and antique stores the area is known for.

Wild Florida

Wild Florida

People of all ages will love spending the day at Wild Florida, which is an animal park featuring a wide selection of outdoor attractions. Head out on an airboat tour to start your day before returning to enjoy the alligator shows, tropical bird aviary, and the petting zoo.

Devils Den

Devil’s Den

Devil’s Den is one of the state’s most unique attractions and is an underground spring that’s located within a dry cave. Here you can enjoy swimming or scuba diving in the water that’s 72°F all year round.

Gainesville, FL

Located in northern Florida, the city of Gainesville offers plenty of excellent outdoor attractions for visitors. The city is best known for being the home of the University of Florida, and we recommend heading to the Butterfly Rainforest within the Florida Museum of Natural History during your visit.

De Leon Springs

De Leon Springs

During the hot summers in Florida, cool off at De Leon Springs, which was previously known as “healing waters” to the Mayaca Indians who lived in the area. It’s the ideal place to relax on a hot day, and you can enjoy swimming in the clear water and exploring the trails in the subtropical forest.

Ocala National Forest

Ocala National Forest

North of Orlando, you’ll find Ocala National Forest, which is known for being home to a large area of sand pine scrub forest. There are natural pools and canoe runs here for you to explore and plenty of trails to enjoy throughout the year.

Thanks to Florida’s excellent weather all year round, you’ll be able to enjoy most of these visits during any month. Whether you have recently moved to Florida or are looking for something new you’ve never done before, check out one of these outdoor day trips on your next day off!
